Korean
company Samsung is preparing to launch the latest version of its new One UI 8.5
interface, based on Android 16, with the anticipated announcement of the Galaxy
S26 series next January. However, a leaked version of the update's beta version
reveals some of the added features that will mark a milestone in the user
experience. It focuses on integrating AI-powered tools and improving user
control over interactive commands. This is achieved through two key features:
Notification Summaries and the double-tap feature on the back of the phone.
Smart
Summaries
An early
version of the interface showed the inclusion of a new option that addresses
the clutter caused by notifications piling up on the Quick Panel. The feature
uses artificial intelligence to analyze the content of notifications and compile
them into a concise summary, making it easier for users to see what's important
without having to scroll through each notification individually.
A welcome
notification appears upon first use explaining how to use this feature, with
the ability to enable or disable it directly from the settings.
Settings
also allow customization, allowing users to exclude certain apps from the
summary. Although this feature wasn't fully functional in the leaked version,
indications suggest it will be available in the final version, giving users
flexibility in controlling how information is accessed.
Double-Tap
The second
feature revealed in the leaks relates to expanding the options for interacting
with the phone by double-tapping the back of the phone. This feature was
previously limited to the Good Lock app, which required separate downloading
and customization, limiting its popularity among users.
With One UI
8.5, this feature will be integrated within the system itself, making it easily
accessible from the settings without the need for third-party apps. It also
allows users to customize the associated action, whether opening a specific app
or executing a command such as launching the camera or muting the sound.
This
integration reflects Samsung's approach to providing practical features within
the platform without relying on additional apps, which contributes to
simplifying use and making phones more responsive to users' daily needs.
An
Evolutionary Step
Recent leaks
indicate that Samsung is continuing to invest in developing its One UI
interface to meet user demands. Updates are no longer limited to design
improvements or cosmetic tweaks, but now offer practical features powered by
artificial intelligence and expanded device control.
Series fans
are eagerly awaiting the official unveiling of the Galaxy S26, which will
feature this interface by default. Samsung is expected to announce additional
details, including performance and security improvements, and the integration
of new features into the broader device ecosystem.
These steps are expected to strengthen the company's position in the rapidly competitive smartphone market, especially as it strives to innovate and offer features that meet the aspirations of consumers seeking smart technologies that make their lives easier.
