Windows 11 gets revolutionary lock screen features

Windows 11 operating system receives a massive update bringing the most important AI tools and widgets to the lock screen!

Microsoft America has released a major new update for its Windows 11 operating system (version 25H2), bringing a huge set of revolutionary features that clearly change the user experience, most notably adding widgets to the lock screen for the first time ever.

Key features of the new Windows 11 lock screen and widgets:

The lock screen now allows users to customize it with widgets that display important information such as the weather app, stocks, or match results without the need to log in. It can be activated from:

Settings > Personalization > Lock screen
.

This feature makes the lock screen more interactive and personalized, after previously being limited to a simple option titled 'Weather and more.' An entirely new widget experience: The changes did not stop at the lock screen but also included the main widgets panel, where Microsoft added a new design for the Discover feed, featuring stories selected by Copilot, includingsummaries, videos, and images from trusted publishers via MSN.

It's also now possible to create multiple widget panels and navigate between them easily via a new sidebar.

AI Integration in File Explorer

File Explorer gets a major boost with AI Actions. You can now right-click on files to access smart features like:

  • Summarize files directly from OneDrive and SharePoint with Copilot.
  • Blur the background in images with a single click.
  • Erase unwanted objects with Generative Erase.
  • Easily remove the background in Paint.
  • Visual search with Bing Visual Search to identify objects within images.

New Narrator Assistant Features

Accessibility has been improved with the Braille Viewer feature, which displays text with its braille equivalent onscreen, along with improved voice and navigation within Microsoft Word.

Updates for Gaming Fans

Microsoft has also introduced Gaming Copilot (beta), built into the Game Bar, which helps gamers with voice commands to help them navigate difficult levels or get tips during gameplay, simply by pressing Windows + G.
